How to check and pay traffic challan online?

10 months ago 14

With traffic rules being monitored by cameras on many roads across India, there's a possibility of unintentionally violating a traffic rule, leading to the issuance of an e-Challan. An

e-Challan

is a digital ticket created through the Electronic Challan system, enhancing the government's efficiency and transparency in handling traffic violations. Traffic officers utilise handheld devices to promptly issue these digital tickets when observing rule violations, and the details are instantly recorded on the traffic police computer system.

Offenders have the option to settle these digital tickets either in-person or online, depending on the regulations in their respective city or state. This streamlined process ensures that everyone adheres to traffic rules, contributing to fairness and clarity in enforcing regulations for all.
When it comes to paying these challans, individuals have the convenient option of making instant online payments. Here's a guide on how to check whether an e-challan has been issued for your vehicle and the steps to pay it online.

How to pay e-Challan online

Step 1: Visit the website by entering 'echallan.parivahan.gov' on your mobile or laptop and choose the '

Check Challan Status

' option.

Step 2: Select one of the three options for searching challans - vehicle number, driver's licence number, or the challan number.
Step 3: Enter the chosen number, and the details of the challan will be displayed.
Step 4: Keep in mind that separate challans may be issued using licence and vehicle numbers, so it's advisable to search using both.

Step 6: Verify your mobile number using the received OTP.

Step 7: You'll be directed to the respective state e-challan payment website, click 'Next'.
