How land dispute of 15 years turned into gang war, led to Noida man's murder

Investigations into the murder of Suraj Mann, who was shot in Noida on Friday, revealed that the motive behind his shooting originates from a 15-year-long dispute over a 100-yard plot of land in Delhi.

According to Noida Police, Suraj Mann was originally a resident of Khera Khurd Village in Delhi’s North West district. He was an Air India crew member, police sources told India Today.

He was the brother of gangster Parvesh Mann, who had a long-standing rivalry with Kapil Mann alias Kallu, who is also a gangster.

Both gangsters hailed from the same village and their families have been engaged in a feud for around 15 years over a piece of land measuring 100 square yards.

This dispute between the two families has allegedly led to a series of violent incidents resulting in the death of several family members.

'MURDER' OF EACH OTHER'S FAMILY MEMBERS

In 2017, Kapil’s uncle Surya Prakash was allegedly murdered. Two years later, in 2019, Parvesh’s cousin Anil Mann and uncle Virendra Mann were allegedly killed by Kapil’s gang.

Parvesh’s friend Manish Mann was also shot around 19 to 20 times but survived the shooting.

Then in 2022, Kapil’s father, Ved Prakash, was allegedly killed by Parvesh’s gang.

According to the initial probe into Suraj Mann's shooting, he was killed by Kapil's gang as revenge for his father's murder.

After the shooting on Friday, four police teams were deployed across Delhi NCR and around 200 CCTV cameras were scrutinised.

WHAT ACCUSED TOLD POLICE

Noida Police on Saturday arrested two people in connection with Suraj Mann's shooting. The two were identified as Dheeraj Mann, brother of Kapil, and Arun alias Mannu Mann. The two were witnesses in the alleged murder of Kapil's father.

Police said others involved in the shooting have also been identified and will be arrested soon.

Dheeraj told police that Suraj often ridiculed Kapil, saying the gangster was unable to avenge his father's death. Further, Mannu had recently attacked Suraj, but he managed a narrow escape.

According to the accused, Kapil had planned Suraj's murder after he suspected that the latter was earning money in Noida and helping out Parvesh financially. Both Kapil and Parvesh are currently lodged in Delhi's Mandoli jail.

HOW 'MURDER' WAS PLANNED

Suraj Mann had shifted to Noida Sector 110 after leaving Delhi over internal disputes. On Friday, he had gone to a gym located in Hajipur, Noida Sector 104. He was shot inside his car after he left the gym. His shooters had fired five rounds of bullets.

As per police sources, the accused arrested had been tracking Suraj's movements for days, noting down the registration number of his car and identifying the time he regularly visited the gym. They meticulously planned the murder and shot him in broad daylight inside his car.
