BABYLON, Long Island (PIX11) --- A man is accused of hiding his dead cousin's body parts on Long Island, leading the victim's family to lash out during his court appearance on Monday.
Steven Brown, 44, Amanda Wallace, 40, Jeffrey Mackey, 38, and Alexis Nieves, 33, were each charged with concealment of a human corpse, hindering prosecution, and tampering with physical evidence after two people's body parts were found scattered on parts of Long Island on Feb. 29 and March 5, authorities said. None of the suspects have been charged with murder. However, sources expected the addition of murder charges soon, following a grand jury presentation.
The remains belonged to a 53-year-old man and Donna R. Conneely, 59. The man has not been identified, prosecutors said.
Brown, the male victim's cousin, and Wallace appeared in a Suffolk County court on Monday.
"How could you?" the male victim's sister yelled at Brown in court.
"Do the right thing, Steven," the man's brother shouted at Brown in the hallway.
Body parts belonging to the two victims were found at Southards Pond Park in Babylon on Feb. 29, authorities said. More of their remains were found on March 5 in a wooded area across from 103 Lakeway Dr. in West Babylon as well as at Bethpage State Park, according to police.
Investigators are waiting on an autopsy report to reveal more information on the cause of death of both victims. A motive in the case remained unclear.
All four suspects were released without bail after they were arraigned, which reignited the debate about bail reform in New York.
