NEW DELHI: The Mumbai Police has issued a look out circular against Mihir Shah, who is wanted in a case of hit-and-run that claimed the life of a woman in Mumbai's Worli on Sunday. The police have also created six teams to search for the accused with a special focus at airports to ensure he does not flee abroad.
The police have already arrested Shah's father Rajesh Shah, who is a leader in the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena.
The driver, Rajendra Singh, who was present in the car at the time of the accident, has also been arrested.
The victim, identified as
Kaveri Nakhwa
(45), was traveling with her husband
Pradip
from Sassoon Dock in Colaba to their home in Worli Koliwada when the incident occurred around 5.30am.
The impact was so severe that Kaveri was thrown onto the car's bonnet, and the driver fled the scene after continuing to drive for about 100 meters.
Speaking about the incident,
Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde
assured that the law is equal for everyone and that the police will not shield anyone in this case. Asked if the man involved in the Mumbai accident was a Shiv Sena leader's son, the CM just said, "The law is equal for all and the government sees every case in the same way. There will be no separate rule for this accident. Everything will be done as per the law."
