The actor was the President of the Nadigar Sangam in 2000, and he managed to resolve all the debts of the council. The late actor Vijayakanth managed to resolve the debt amount of Rs 4.5 crore. According to the reports of India Today, the actor was praised for his tactical thinking at the time. He organized a fund-raising event in Singapore and Malaysia and requested actors Kamal Haasan and
Rajinikanth
to meet the fans in the two countries. The event filled with stars became a huge success, and tickets were sold in two countries. The funds raised from the event helped him settle all his debts.
Vijayakanth, while stepping down from his position in 2006, also revealed that the Nadigar Sangam had a bank balance of Rs 1 crore. Vijaykanth's plan to organize the event in Singapore and Malaysia to entertain the fans with stars was a huge success.
