EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (PIX11) – A New Jersey aquarium is looking for help naming two female yellow-spotted river turtles on Wednesday.
The turtles are located in SEA LIFE New Jersey's freshwater turtle exhibit, and share a home with midas cichlids, silver arowanas and kissing prochilodus.
Instagram users helped suggest names, according to the aquarium. The aquarium narrowed the names down to three choices:
- Mishell and Shellby
- Thelma and Louise
- Pat and Phillis
Followers can vote for the names on SEA LIFE New Jersey's Instagram.
The female river turtles can be up to twice the size of their male counterparts, according to the aquarium. They eat a diet of fruits, vegetables, fish and small invertebrates.
The turtles are most active in the mid-morning and afternoon. They can stay underwater for four to seven hours while resting, not needing to come up for air, the aquarium said.
