NEW DELHI: Not considered in the 15-man squad

Team India

squad for the upcoming

T20 World Cup

in the Americas,

Shubman Gill

responded with a fiery ton against defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League on Friday.
Slamming his fourth ton in the league, Gill sizzled with a 55-ball 104 to power Titans to a comfortable 35-run win over CSK.

Roaring back to form after a series of low scores, Gill made the perfect use of home conditions in Titans' easy win and kept his sides playoffs hopes alive this IPL season.
Amid his dazzling century, former India coach

Ravi Shastri

heaped praise on the Gill and pointed out that the 24-year-old would be hurting after not making to the World Cup squad.

"He (Gill) would be hurting. He should be hurting. He should look at it positively and try to get better," Shastri said on-air when Gill was batting against CSK.
"A player of his calibre would walk into any side, but such is the talent in India that he doesn't get a place," Shastri added.
"His class will continue to grow. He might not be in the World Cup side but he will take it in his stride. That will help him become a better player. He'll go from strength to strength," Shastri added.

The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee picked

Yashasvi Jaiswal

over Gill for the T20 World Cup to partner with skipper Rohit Sharma at the top of the order.
Although Gill missed out on a place in the 15-man squad, he will still be travelling with Team India -- as a reserve -- alongside Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed.
The marquee ICC event begins from June 2 and India will be up against Ireland in their opener on June 5.
