Haryana Police arrests man extorting money in name of local BJP MLA

arrested a miscreant from a jail of

Hoshiyarpur

of Punjab who was

extorting money

from a common service centre (CSC) in the name of

local BJP MLA

Krishan Midda. The accused has been identified as Bhalinder Pal alias Balinder Singh alias GS Balli alias Jasraj, a native of phase-7 of Mohali, told police.
Jitender Singh, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) said that Mohit Sharma, personal assistant of BJP MLA lodged a police complaint on January 7, alleging that frequents calls are being made to a CSC owner from two mobiles numbers in which caller told that he is an MLA Krishan Midda and pay a fee of my relative Rs 27,643 and get money from my office.

However, no call was made from the MLA office for making any fee transaction, he alleged.
Getting his complaint, cyber police lodged a case against the unidentified caller under relevant sections of IPC and started a probe. During the investigation, it came to light that the accused is known from various names as a habitual criminal and lodged in jail at present time. He is lodged in Hoshiarpur jail and searched for the name of MLA and CSC's contact number on Google and made calls from jail to commit fraud. He has completed his bachelor of science (BSC) and has a criminal record as police have lodged 14 cases of cheating and informational technology acts in different police stations. He was lodged in jail for past six months, DSP said.
Further he added that sub inspector Pooja cracked the case and arrested the accused from Punjab's jail and brought in Jind. He was produced in court which sent him in two days police remand. However, Punjab police too booked the accused for illegally possessing a mobile in jail, he maintained.
