KAITHAL: The administration has now become strict regarding the burning of stubble in fields by farmers. Acting on the orders, the police have arrested 13 farmers on Sunday under section 223 (A) of bhartiya nyayay sanhita and 39 (prevention and control of pollution) act 1981. Among them, four farmers are from the Pundri police station area, five from Guhla and Cheeka police station areas, two from Dhand, one from sadar police station and one from the
Kaithal
police station area.
However, these farmers were granted bail after their arrest.
So far, FIRs have been registered against 18 farmers in the district. This includes six cases in Guhla-Cheeka, six in Pundri, three in Dhand, one in Kaithal city, and two farmers in Siwan. The administration has also ordered the arrest of other farmers soon. Additionally, four new cases of stubble burning were reported on Sunday. The Chief Secretary held a video conference on Sunday regarding the level of air pollution and measures to curb stubble burning incidents with the DC and other officials. In the meeting, he directed the officials to arrest farmers directly involved in stubble burning. As of Saturday night, 123 cases of stubble burning have been reported in the district. Additionally, 13 personnel from the Agriculture Department have been issued notices. So far, more than two lakh rupees in fines have been imposed on farmers, said officials.
Talking to TOI Baburam, Deputy Director of the Agriculture (DDA) department in Kaithal, informed that 123 cases of stubble burning have been reported in the district so far. Fines exceeding two lakh rupees have been collected from 63 farmers. FIRs have been filed against 18 farmers in various police stations of the district for burning stubble.
Police officials stated that, according to government orders, the concerned station managers have been asked to ensure the swift arrest of farmers against whom cases of stubble burning have been registered. Following this, cases were filed against 18 farmers, and 13 farmers were arrested.
