HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) -- The family of a Harlem Grandmother of ten reached out to PIX11’s Monica Morales in desperate need of repairs.
Natalie Rosa says it has been an emotional rollercoaster watching her mom struggle to get repairs in her home here at the Lincoln Houses in Harlem.
79-year-old Doris Green lives in an apartment where her ceiling is falling apart. Green says she has to sleep in her living room now because her bedroom ceiling has chipping, peeling paint, and water damage.
Three generations of women are living in this home in Harlem. Green is the matriarch of the family.
The problem, Green says, started back in 2023.
A NYCHA spokesperson tells PIX11 News, “NYCHA staff visited the resident today and have scheduled the necessary environmental inspections, testing, and skilled trades work for the unit. NYCHA encourages residents in need of assistance to call the Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771 or submit work tickets through the MyNYCHA application."
