NEW DELHI: In a moment of personal triumph amidst
Pakistan
's disappointing campaign, pacer
Haris Rauf
surpassed the 100-wicket milestone in T20I cricket during their Group A match against
Canada
at the
Nassau County International Cricket Stadium
in New York on Tuesday.
Rauf's blistering pace left the Canadian batsmen stunned as he finished the first innings with figures of 2/26 in his four-over spell.
Shreyas Movva became Rauf's 100th victim in the shortest format, while Ravinderpal Singh was his 101st scalp, taking his overall tally to 101 wickets in 71 matches.
This achievement makes Rauf only the second
Pakistan player
to reach this milestone, following all-rounder
Shadab Khan
, who has 107 wickets in 103 matches for the Men in Green.
Remarkably, Rauf is the third-fastest player to reach the 100-wicket landmark in T20I cricket, behind only Afghanistan captain
Rashid Khan
and Sri Lanka captain
Wanindu Hasaranga
.
Rashid achieved the feat in an astonishing 53 matches, while Hasaranga reached the 100-wicket mark in 63 games.
