Dense fog engulfs Delhi, mercury drops as cold wave tightens grip, alert issued
The national capital witnessed thick fog and a further mercury drop as the cold wave tightened its grip. The Met Office has issued an orange warning for Monday. The minimum temperature touched 4 degrees Celsius. Amid the severe fog conditions, the Delhi airport has issued an advisory for passengers, requesting that they contact airlines before travelling. "Due to dense fog, flight operations at Delhi Airport may be affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information," said the airport authority in a post on 'X'. "Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted," it added. Meanwhile, schools in Delhi reopened for physical classes from Monday as the extended winter break ended, but the class timings have been changed. No classes will start before 9 am and no classes will run beyond 5 pm, an order issued by the Education Department on Sunday stated. All teaching and non-teaching staff will have to report to duty as usual, the order said.
