Haason Reddick
took to
social media
on Tuesday to deny reports suggesting he had requested a trade from the team. Reddick, 29, stated on X, "Never asked for a trade. However, I do understand it's a business. Preparing for whatever is next!"
In a conversation with Bleacher Report, Reddick emphasized his desire to remain with the Eagles and expressed interest in a contract extension with his hometown team.
"I would like to get an extension done here at home," Reddick said. "At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded."
Despite Reddick's statements, multiple outlets, including ESPN and
NFL Network
, reported on Sunday that the Eagles had given him permission to explore potential trade options.
Reddick, who has one season left on a three-year, $45 million contract signed in March 2022, is set to earn $14.25 million in base salary for the 2024 season.
The linebacker had an impressive first season with the Eagles in 2022, recording a career-high 16 sacks and leading the NFL with five forced fumbles in 17 starts. He continued his strong performance in 2023 with 11 sacks in 17 starts, earning a second consecutive Pro Bowl selection.
Over his career, spanning 114 games with the Arizona Cardinals (2017-20),
Carolina Panthers
(2021), and the Eagles, Reddick has accumulated 410 tackles, 58 sacks, and 16 forced fumbles. The Cardinals selected him with the 13th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The situation surrounding Reddick's future with the Eagles remains uncertain as the team navigates the offseason.
