GTA maker has a logo 'problem' with this game developer

Rockstar Games

has entered a

trademark dispute

with another game maker

Remedy Entertainment

. The company claims that the

logo

used by

Remedy

resembles the one used by the Grand Theft Auto maker. Remedy’s new logo is a stylised version of the letter “R”. However, the logo has been opposed by

Rockstar

parent Take Two.

According to a report by RespawnFirst, Take-Two noted that "there exists a likelihood of confusion on the part of the public". In April 2023, Remedy unveiled its new logo. Shortly after that, the developer filed two trademark claims for variations of the logo in May 2023. However, both claims were opposed by Take Two.

Currently, Remedy and Rockstar Games are working together on the

Max Payne

as well as Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne remakes, reports IGN.

In 2022, these two developers signed a publishing agreement to remake the first two Max Payne games for multiple platforms. This includes PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. For these rumoured titles, Remedy will handle the development part while Rockstar will help in financing the project.
What Remedy has to say about its new logo
In a blog post, Remedy explained details about its new logo. The developer noted:

“The bullet in the letter R in the old logo represented the era of Max Payne, but the Remedy of now is much bigger than a single game; we have a whole portfolio of games, new and old. It was time to update and redefine our visual identity to bring more consistency, showcase our evolution over the years, and better express our vision of today's Remedy.
