GSMA is hosting the annual MWC Shanghai event starting June 26. It will be a 3-day event that will conclude on June 28.
With Computex 2024 just wrapping up, the next big tech event to look forward to is the GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024. The event is scheduled to kick off on June 26 and will go on till June 28, 2024. It will be hosted at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, and will hold discussions on themes like 5G, AI and digital transformation in manufacturing.
GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024: What to expect
After being showcased at MWC Barcelona, Connected Industries will make its debut on the show floor at MWC Shanghai this year. This area, focusing on connected businesses and organisations, will highlight region-specific themes such as Manufacturing and Smart Mobility at MWC Shanghai.
5G will once again make an appearance at MWC Shanghai. The event will showcase ways startups are leveraging 5G along with AI, edge computing, and AR/VR technologies. China is expected to have nearly one-third of the world's 5G connections by 2030 and is already reaching 1 billion 5G connections this year.
The event will also see participation from leaders from the global digital ecosystem including Dr Hans Wijayasuriya, CEO of Telecoms Business & Group EVP at Axiata Group, Yang Jie, chairman of China Mobile, Ke Ruiwen, chairman & CEO of China Telecom, Chen Zhongyue, chairman of China Unicom, George Zhao, CEO of HONOR, David Wang, executive director at Huawei, Akash Palkhiwala, CFO & COO of Qualcomm; Yang Lan, chairperson of Sun Media Group, and Xu Ziyang, CEO of ZTE.
The Asian Mobile Awards (AMOs), one of the highest commendations in the Asian connectivity industry, will also be hosted at MWC Shanghai. The winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award will be announced during Keynote 1 at the event, with the other winners revealed during Keynote 3. This year, a new award, the “MWC Shanghai Exhibition SME Innovation Award,” will also be presented on the show floor on June 28, 2024.
GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024: Hackathon finalists
At MWC Shanghai, GSMA will host the finalists of the GSMA-China Telecom Open Gateway Hackathon, a 48-hour event running from June 23-25, 2024. The hackathon aims to inspire participants to develop innovative business and social solutions using telecommunications services. The awards ceremony will be held on June 28, 2024, during the Open Gateway DevCon at MWC Shanghai.
