Types of messages, frauds that Indians can report
The government highlights that the Chakshu portal is for reporting suspected fraud communications that aim to cheat users by means of cyber-crime, financial frauds as well as non-bonafide purposes like impersonation or any other misuse through Call, SMS or WhatsApp.

Users can register complaints about potential fraudulent calls related to: Bank accounts, payment wallet / SIM / gas connection / electricity connection / KYC update, expiry and deactivation, impersonation as government official or relative and sextortion, among others.

  • Screenshot of the message or call received
  • Data and time of the message or call

Steps to register a report using Chakshu portal

  • Visit “https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/sfc/”
  • On the next page, enter details asked, especially the one that has ‘*’ in front of it
  • Select ‘Medium of Suspected Fraud Communication’ -- Call, SMS or WhatsApp
  • Select the category for the report, attach screenshot and also enter other details like date and time of the suspected fraud communication
  • Provide a detailed description of the fraud in the dedicated section
  • After this, enter your personal details like name and phone number
  • Next up, verify your number with OTP and submit the complaint
