The update includes optimisations for recommendation rows, system apps, and app launches, reducing memory usage and enhancing performance. The Live tab has been enhanced with new categories for recently watched channels and local news, along with the addition of 14 new free channels to the lineup.

Google TV

has received a significant update, delivering

new features

and performance upgrades. The company said that it had received feedback from users about optimising their TV’s memory usage and it has acted on it. Google has implemented optimisations that streamline navigation, reduce loading times, and improve overall responsiveness. From a quicker wake-up to snappier app launches, users can expect a noticeably more fluid experience
“We optimised the way Google TV’s home screen loads recommendation rows and uses memory…we simplified basic system

apps

so they run even lighter,” said Google on its support page.

Google says that by doing so user will see that TV interface getting smoother and use less memory. Apps will open faster as well, Google said.
Furthermore, the response speed for many features on the home screen of Google TV has also been improved. “This includes preloading rows of movies and shows before scrolling, optimising the way tabs load, and ensuring results load more quickly when using search,” said Google.
Apps' size has been reduced

That’s not all as Google has also made changes to the device setup to reduce the size of pre-installed apps that one may not use. “This offers more room for the apps you do use on your device,” said Google.
The Live tab is getting even better as Google has added two new categories. The "Recents" category helps you quickly find your recently watched free TV channels, while the "Local news" category gives you easy access to the free news channels for your area. “You’ll also see news channels in a new “Free live news & opinion” row on the For you tab, so you can jump in quickly,” said Google.

Additionally, 14 new free channels are joining the lineup, including the Xumo Holiday Movie Channel, DraftKings, and Speedvision, among others.
