Google releases February security patch for Pixel phones: Here’s what’s fixed

has released a new

update

for Pixel phones, and no, it’s not a feature drop but a

security

update. All

Pixel phones

that are supported should receive the update, which brings the

February security patch

, via an over-the-air update in the coming days.
The update is rolling out to Pixel devices, including Pixel 5a, 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Tablet, Fold, 8, and 8 Pro.

The patch includes fixes for 15 security issues, dated February 1, and 31 issues for February 5, 2024, ranging from high to critical vulnerabilities. The bulletin for Google devices also lists seven additional security fixes, with separate builds for Pixel 7 and

Pixel 8

Pro.
In addition to the security fixes, Pixel 8 and 8 Pro devices get cameras, Wi-Fi, and performance improvements in certain conditions. There's also a fix for display issues that get corrupted in certain conditions. The Pixel Fold also gets an outer display fix, while all devices benefit from fixes for stability or performance with certain third-party apps.

Google’s January feature drop for Pixel phones
Last month, Google dropped an off-schedule feature drop for the Pixel phones, bringing in new AI features.
Google's Pixel 8 and 8 Pro received the Circle to Search feature, which lets you search for an image or text on your phone's screen by drawing a circle over it. In addition to the newer Pixel 8 models, the older Pixel models also received the Magic Compose, which adds personality to messages. Photomoji was rolled out to Pixel 3a and newer models, letting you transform your photos into reactions to messages.

Then, Pixel 8 Pro's temperature can now measure human being’s temperature, and Pixel Buds Pro can switch earbuds between Pixel devices. Lastly, Google rebranded the Nearby Share with Quick Share.
