As they say, “If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it”. To an extent, the line holds true for

Samsung

as the company has teased the

Galaxy Ring

, its new

wearable fitness device

. Reports have suggested that the market for

smart rings

is growing rapidly and it seems the South Korean company wants to quickly grab a share.
At the

Galaxy S24

launch event in the US, Samsung just revealed the design and the name of its new wearable device.

It pretty much looks like the other options available in the market and Samsung is expected to incorporate the same features in Galaxy Ring as the Galaxy Watch smartwatches.
These may include heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level, sleep tracking and step counter, among others. It is likely that Samsung Health will show the data captured by Galaxy Ring. There's not much to share at this point of time as Samsung did not reveal other information, such as launch date, price and specifications yet.
Samsung Ring: What to expect

The Galaxy Ring announcement was made by Dr. Matthew Wiggins, clinical research scientist at Samsung Research. Samsung called the Galaxy Ring a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device.”
Wiggins touched upon some of the features that we can expect to come with the Galaxy Ring. For example, Dr Wiggins said that Samsung Health will include the ability to monitor for potential sleep apnea symptoms by tracking sleep patterns, blood oxygen changes and maintaining heart rate alerts during sleep.

Wiggins also teased the ‘My Vitality Score’, a way to track the wearers’ physical readiness and mental preparedness based on sleep, activity, and heart rate data.
Previous leaks have suggested that the wearable may come with loads of sensors, which were seen in the teaser video that the company ran during the live event.
The Galaxy Ring was previously tipped to have the ability to track and measure fitness data just like the Galaxy Watch. A trademark filing claimed that the smart ring by Samsung would be able to manage and assess “biometric and physiological data, vital signs and personal health records.”
A patent filed by Samsung last year suggested that the Galaxy Ring is “intended to cover the categories of wearable smart devices in the nature of a smart ring for tracking, measuring, monitoring, and uploading health, fitness and sleep-related information.”
A separate leak claimed that the

Samsung Galaxy Ring

could be equipped with electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors.
