MASSAPEQUA PARK, N.Y. (PIX11) – Funeral arrangements have been set for NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, who was shot and killed in the line of duty in Queens on Monday.

The funeral service for Diller will be held at Saint Rose of Lima R.C. Church in Massapequa at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Diller will be interred at Saint Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Visitations will be held at multiple times on Thursday and Friday ahead of the funeral. The visitations will take place at Massapequa Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both days.

Diller, 31, was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop in Far Rockaway.

“He put himself in harm’s way. He went towards the danger, all to keep the people we serve safe and to protect his fellow New Yorkers,” NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban said.

Diller, a member of the NYPD’s Community Response Team, was a three-year veteran of the department. He was a husband and a father to a young child.

“Our hero police officer confronted this dangerous individual knowing that he was putting himself at risk, knowing that he had a family waiting for him at home. But he did it to protect the people of this city, and we need every single New Yorker to be with this family,” said New York City Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry.

Diller was shot after he and another officer stopped a vehicle that was illegally parked at a bus stop, according to police. Diller's partner then shot the suspect, who remains hospitalized.

Diller is the first NYPD officer to be killed in the line of duty since 2022, when officers Wilbert Mora and Jason Rivera were ambushed and killed in Harlem.
