As recruiting season continues to heat up, the Texas Longhorns got good news on Saturday. Four-star safety Chace Calicut narrowed his list to three schools and included the Longhorns. The other schools to make the cut were two powerhouses in Georgia and Michigan. He has already set visits with all three finalists, which will be next month.
The Texas native is ranked as the No. 161 player overall and the No. 13 safety in the 2026 class by 247Sports. On3 Sports' Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Calicut to stay in state and commit to Texas. That would be a welcomed outcome for the Longhorns, who are building an impressive 2026 class.
Although being in state is a plus, that is not the Longhorns' only advantage. Texas cornerbacks coach Mark Orphey is a North Shore alum and has gotten the best out of the players in his system. That could be one intriguing aspect for Calicut who has the potential to be an impact player.

— Todd Glawson (@TFloss32) May 17, 2025Calicut will kick off his recruiting tour with an official visit to Georgia From June 6-8. He will then head to Ann Arbor to visit the Wolverines from June 13-15. His final stop will be in Austin from June 20-22 to visit with the Longhorns. With Texas being the last stop, Sarkisian and his coaching staff have plenty of time to plan their pitch.
Over the last few months, Calicut has become a player with whom many fans have become familiar. He has been linked to Texas since January and has taken a few unofficial visits to campus. The Longhorns hope that when he returns in June, they can convince him that Austin is the best place to start his college career.
