The concert, held amidst a backdrop of sweltering conditions, coincided with a heatwave advisory in Gwangju, where temperatures soared to 31.3 degrees Celsius on July 6, the day before the event. The heatwave warning, initially in effect since July 5, had been downgraded to an advisory at 10 a.m. KST on the day of the concert.
This incident recalls a similar situation from June last year when a concert at the Olympic Main Stadium in Seoul had to temporarily halt proceedings due to an attendee showing signs of exhaustion, underscoring the importance of safety measures during outdoor events amidst high temperatures.
The safety and well-being of concertgoers have become a paramount concern as large-scale events continue amidst challenging weather conditions, prompting organizers and authorities to implement precautionary measures to mitigate heat-related risks in future gatherings.
