MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Fotografiska, a photography museum in Manhattan, announced it will be relocating from its current Park Avenue South location to a new space.
In May, Fotografiska announced its plans to move to a larger location that provides more gallery space and better meets the needs of the museum’s visitors.
Fotografiska opened in 2019 at its current location at 281 Park Ave. South. Its final day there will be on Sept. 29. The museum hasn’t yet announced where it will be relocating.
As part of the transition, Fotografiska will also be closing Chapel Bar and the restaurant Verōnika on June 15.
Fotografiska’s final exhibitions at its current home will showcase the work of the late photographer Vivian Maier and of street photographer Bruce Gilden.
The Maier exhibit is open now until Sept. 29. The Gilden exhibit runs from June 21 through Sept. 29.
During the transition, Fotografiska will host a new exhibit documenting 100 years of New York City nightlife at a temporary location.
Fotografiska was founded in Stockholm in 2010. It also has museums in Berlin, Shanghai and Tallinn.
