THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A former gang member allegedly shot a Bronx man in the head Tuesday before cutting up his body and putting the parts in plastic bags, authorities said.
Sheldon Johnson, 48, was arraigned on murder and manslaughter charges in the brutal killing of Collin Small, 44, prosecutors said. Johnson pleaded not guilty and was held without bail.
The defendant allegedly went to Small's apartment on Summit Avenue and shot him before dismembering his body at around 1 a.m., according to the criminal complaint. Johnson allegedly stuffed the body parts into plastic bags and stored them in the freezer, according to court records.
Authorities found Small's headless torso while doing a wellness check at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The victim's legs were still attached to the body, sources said. Small was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnson admitted to being a former gang member, dealing drugs, and robbing a man who owed him money during an interview with Joe Rogan last month.
Johnson is due back in court on Monday.
