Food delivery boy killed in hit and run in Thane

THANE: A

food delivery boy

was killed in a

hit and run

incident outside the

Kalwa municipal hospital

on the arterial Thane-Belapur road, late Wednesday, officials informed.
The

accident

was reported around 10pm near gate number 2 of the Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital. The deceased, identified by the

police

as

Krishna Warge

(34), was a resident of Thane and was riding his bike to deliver a parcel from

Vitawa

to

Kalwa naka

when an unidentified speeding vehicle coming from behind knocked him down.
“The impact of the collision left the victim to lose balance and fall on the road and come under the rear wheels of the vehicle. The victim was rushed to the hospital but declared dead. The victim worked as a delivery boy and is survived by his mother and elder brother,” said PSI Ram Bhawar from the Kalwa police station that is investigating the case.
Officials said they are checking footage of

CCTV cameras

installed in the vicinity. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver of the speeding vehicle.
