NEW YORK (PIX11) -- From a Bronx quadriplegic woman finally getting the keys to her new wheelchair-accessible apartment, to a Lower East Side man finally getting repairs, PIX11's Monica Morales has been making it happen.
Bronx resident Nyree Stevens, 33, showed PIX11 how every day was a struggle just to get around in her NYCHA apartment in her wheelchair. All she wanted was a wheelchair-accessible home.
After PIX11 News aired her story, she was able to look at two apartments and found her dream home. Stevens received the keys to her new place on Friday.
PIX11 met Michael Washington on the Lower East Side. He was upset his bathroom was falling apart. His sink was hanging from the wall. He's now received repairs and is ecstatic. Washington invited PIX11 to celebrate.
