BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- From helping get repairs started in a Bronx community center to fighting for an East Harlem grandmother get repairs.

PIX11 News is helping make it happen for our viewers.

Christopher Wilson gave PIX11 News a tour of the problems inside a Bronx community center last November and reached out to for help. From the indoor basketball court to the bathrooms, It was falling apart.

These NYers blazed a trail for the NYC Marathon

Wilson stated a lot has happened in just a few months. Thanks to Bronx borough president Vanessa Gibson, NYCHA, and the heads of the center, the indoor basketball is completely renovated.

Wilson states the basement and backyard still need renovations. Wilson hopes a generous viewer sees this story and wants to help build a new music studio and play area for the more than 300 children who come to the center for after-school programs.

Cleo Dendy, 78, at the East River houses says she has battled a recurring leak for weeks.

Dendy is exhausted from getting the runaround from the city.

After our story, Dendy says an NYCHA superintendent visited and promised repairs by this weekend.

A NYCHA spokesperson tells PIX11 that in their work to determine a lasting resolution for this resident, NYCHA plumbers determined that the reoccurring blockages in the apartment’s waste line are the result of additional high water volume from washing machines and aging stack waste lines.

To further address the issue, plumbers will isolate the first-floor apartment and replace a section of the waste pipe this weekend."

Dendy wants a temporary place to stay while repairs are complete.

PIX11 News will stay on this story, for this great-grandmother and community champion.
