NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A flood advisory has been issued until 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
1-2 inches of rain is expected to cause flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Any thunderstorms that develop could contain damaging winds of over 55 mph. The National Weather Service also issued weather statements warning of hail in Westchester County and parts of Connecticut.
While a minimal threat, a brief tornado cannot be ruled out as well. The NWS issued a tornado warning for parts of New Jersey, including Middlesex and Monmouth counties.
Most of the severe threat should diminish by midnight, but rain is expected to linger into the early morning hours.
