NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – A United Airlines flight “safely aborted” its takeoff in Houston after there was an engine issue, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The flight, which was headed to LaGuardia Airport, never made it off the ground in Texas around 8:35 a.m., according to the FAA.

NYC woman killed in DC plane crash, family says

Passengers were taken back to the terminal after deplaning, according to the FAA.

Videos obtained by local station FOX26 show smoke billowing out of the plane's wing, which was purportedly on fire.

No injuries were reported, according to the Houston Fire Department.

United Airlines did not immediately respond to PIX11's request for comment.

The incident comes just days after over 60 people were killed in a plane crash over the Potomac River, including figure skaters, their parents and coaches returning from the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

A day later, a medical transport jet crashed in Philadelphia with six people on board.
