'Fit For Practice But Not...': Pathan's Dig. Fans Say It's For Kishan

9 months ago 18

India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been out of action since withdrawing from the Indian squad for the tour of South Africa in December 2023, citing fatigue. The last time Ishan played for India was in the T20I format against Australia in Guwahati in December 2023. Ishan was not taken into consideration for the ongoing Test series against England, after which India head coach Rahul Dravid had clarified that the player is yet to make himself available for selection after asking for a break.

The player recently shared a video of him training on social media. The player is also absent from Jharkhand's squad for the ongoing round of the Ranji Trophy.

On Saturday, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan shared a cryptic post. Pathan was baffled over the fact that "someone can be fit enough to practice but not play domestic cricket".

While Pathan didn't mention anyone's name, fans guessed that his post is directed towards Kishan.

"Finding it perplexing how someone can be fit enough to practice but not play domestic cricket. How does this even make sense?," Pathan posted on X (Twitter)

Earlier, former India batter Aakash Chopra asserted that Kishan can't be picked for team India as he is not playing any form of cricket.

"What Rahul has said is absolutely correct. Rahul Dravid has said that he should make available first and secondly, he needs to play some cricket, as he can't be picked for India if he is not playing any cricket. If it had been the period of June-July, it would have been acceptable," he said on his YouTube channel.

Aakash Chopra further stated that Kishan should have been playing in the ongoing Ranji season to show his availability.

"However, the Ranji Trophy is happening at the moment, so if first-class cricket is happening, he needs to play there to show his availability. In fact, he has not even picked up the phone and told anyone that he is available," he added.
