NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- A New Jersey church marked a major milestone; the First Baptist Church in Paterson, N.J., celebrated 200 years.

The First Baptist Church has great significance and deep roots in Paterson. It was built before Paterson was declared a municipality.

With music, praise, and worship, dozens of parishioners celebrate their beloved church. The First Baptist Church on Washinton Street was built in 1824 and has continuously welcomed the community for 200 years. William Jackson has been its pastor for 32 of those years.
