Fire injures 9 people at Brownsville apartment building: FDNY

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – At least nine people were injured in an apartment fire in Brownsville, Brooklyn, Wednesday morning, according to the FDNY.

The fire broke out just before 10 a.m. on the fourth floor of a 22-story apartment building at the Hughes Apartments complex, according to the FDNY.

All nine people were transported to area hospitals before the fire was brought under control around 10:20 a.m.

Videos posted to Citizen show smoke billowing out of multiple apartment windows as emergency personnel look down from an apartment above. Another video showed a woman hanging out of a window, holding a bag, as smoke poured from an adjacent window.
