Fire ban lifted across New Jersey: Forest Fire Service

1 week ago 13

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – The fire ban was lifted in all New Jersey counties on Thursday due to the rain, according to the state's Forest Fire Service.

A statewide restriction on outdoor fires was imposed back in late October as firefighters dealt with wildfires fueled by the drought. Bonfires, fireworks, fire pits that use wood or charcoal and general fires in wooded areas were all prohibited.

"Although restrictions have been lifted, the Forest Fire Service asks that New Jerseyans do not become complacent and continue to be careful when using fire," the Forest Fire Service wrote on X.

The Forest Fire Service responded to over 500 fires just in October. There is still a drought warning in the state despite the wet weather.
