KALYAN: Less than three weeks after a

blast

in the

chemical reactor

of a

Dombivli MIDC

factory killed 12 and left 68 injured, a major fire broke out in another

factory

just around 300 metres from the ill-fated plant on Wednesday, reports Pradeep Gupta. While the factory was gutted in Wednesday’s blaze at Indo Amines, no one was injured as all its 10 employees rushed out in time.

However, the blaze spread to the factory next to it, Malde Capacitors Manufacturing Company, which burned down too.
After the blaze, a Indo Amines spokesperson said they had got a fire safety audit done just a month and half ago.
The blaze led to panic among locals as the factory is situated near a large residential locality and a school, which was evacuated as the smoke began to affect students.
Following the second blaze in weeks, locals who live between two phases of MIDC demanded that govt either shift dangerous chemical companies from the city or relocate them.
Sena (UBT) functionary Vaishali Darekar said the Eknath Shinde govt has not learned any lessons from previous fires.
