has announced a special screening of Yash Chopra's masterpiece Deewaar (1975) to commemorate 50 years of this landmark film in Indian cinema. The event will take place on February 1, 2025, at 6pm at the iconic Regal Cinema in Mumbai.
Produced by Trimurti Films, Deewaar was a groundbreaking success that not only redefined storytelling in Indian cinema but also cemented Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic persona as the "
Angry Young Man
." With its gritty narrative and unforgettable dialogues penned by the famed screenwriting duo Salim-Javed, the film remains a cultural touchstone even five decades after its release.

is our way of celebrating this masterpiece, which permanently etched both Vijay and the "Angry Young Man" persona of Amitabh Bachchan into the hearts of audiences. Even today, the dialogues from the film are an inseparable part of our lives. This is a film I have grown up with. Who can forget Billa 786? We screened it earlier during the Bachchan Back to the Beginning festival, and how could we miss the opportunity to celebrate Deewar's golden jubilee with this special screening? It’s a free screening where we aim to recreate the magic of a single-screen experience in a 1,000-seater theater, just like it would have been in 1975, witnessing Mr. Bachchan delivering those legendary dialogues on the big screen."
Dungarpur says that through Deewar, the audience saw the underbelly of Mumbai, the unparalleled style and coolness of Bachchan for the very first time. He says,"The film cemented the image of the "Angry Young Man" and gave us some of the most iconic scenes in Indian cinema. My four favourite moments are - "Mera baap chor hai, mere paas maa hai", "Aaj mere paas bangla hai, gaadi hai, bank balance hai, kya hai tumhare paas?", "Main aaj bhi phenke hue paise nahi uthata", "Jao, pehle us aadmi ka sign lekar aao jisne mera baap ko chor kaha tha."
