NEW DELHI: The impact of the
fog
in Delhi appeared to thin out Tuesday at other
major airports
, with most reporting fewer cancellations even as
long delays
continued to pile on terminal trauma.
In Mumbai, only a small fraction of the flights were hit. The city saw 17 cancellations, down from 50 on Monday and 30 on Sunday. Market leader IndiGo accounted for most of Tuesday's cancellations.
Pune's pain seemed lesser but only just, with 12 cancellations on Tuesday -- five departures and seven arrivals. The affected flights were to and from Delhi, Chandigarh, Guwahati and Goa, airport director Santosh Dhoke said. The delays led to chaos and furious passengers demanding answers from airline staffers. Praphul Kumar reached the Pune airport at 4am for a 6.05am flight to Ranchi. He claimed airline staff kept pushing off the departure time.
Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) saw no cancellations on Tuesday but delays of several hours.
In Delhi, over 50 flights were delayed at Indira Gandhi International airport due to the thick fog on Tuesday. Eight flights were cancelled between 9.20am and 12pm.
