NEW DELHI: During the aftermath of Punjab Kings' historic run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders, KKR's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate emphasized the necessity for bowlers to adopt unconventional tactics in the face of aggressive batting strategies witnessed in the IPL.
Reflecting on the evolution of the game, Doeschate highlighted the seismic shift in batting paradigms, noting, "When you get past 160, you can almost pack your bag and feel you're going to win the game.
Now, you need 160 before the 13th over to have a chance to get a big score."

With Jonny Bairstow's explosive century steering Punjab Kings to victory, Doeschate emphasized the importance of bowlers employing "anti-skill" tactics to challenge batsmen.
"You want to bowl with anti-skill... I don't think you can bowl two balls the same... It's all in the batter's favour," he remarked.
Citing Sam Curran's dismissal of Phil Salt as an example, Doeschate advocated for innovative strategies, stating, "We have to come up with innovative ways... I feel sorry for the bowlers, but those are the realities."
Addressing KKR's bowling concerns, Doeschate urged a proactive approach, saying, "There's no point crying about it..
. We are going to find a way and try new things and embrace the challenge."
Providing an update on Mitchell Starc's return, Doeschate revealed the Aussie quick's imminent comeback, adding depth to KKR's bowling arsenal.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings' Prabhsimran Singh, who shone as an Impact Substitute, hailed the rule as an opportunity for youngsters. Reflecting on their record chase, he highlighted the team's strategy to capitalize on the powerplay and praised Bairstow's match-winning century, exemplifying cricket's resilience in the face of adversity.
