To implement the One Vehicle, One FASTag initiative to make toll collection process seamless at toll plazas and deter the misuse of FASTags, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) made it a mandate for users to complete the Know Your Customer (
KYC

FASTag KYC deadline has been extended: What’s the new date
The National Highways Authority of India has extended the deadline by almost a month.
TOI Tech confirmed with NHAI’s customer care (1033) and we’ve been told that NHAI has extended the deadline for FASTag KYC till the end of February.
Earlier, NHAI as well as banks were advised to blacklist and deactivate FASTags without KYC. However, as per the new information from customer care, the deadline has now been extended to February 28.
What is One Vehicle, One FASTag initiative
NHAI announced this initiative to contain the misuse of FASTags. The initiative ensures that only the recent FASTags are active and the ones that haven’t been used for a long time should get deactivated. Also, this ensures that users are using one FASTag for one vehicle only. The process also ensures that users will fix the FASTag on the car’s windshield to ensure faster toll collection and less wait in the queue.
For those unaware, FASTags are
Radio Frequency Identification
(
RFID
) devices that are aimed at making toll payments directly from the wallet or linked bank accounts. The tag gets fixed on the windshield and it facilitates automatic toll collection processes on highways and other toll plazas.
