Google has made several new announcements at the
CES 2024
event. One of these announcements includes
Fast Pair
for
Chromecast
, after showcasing it at CES 2022.
Which means, the future update is set to bring Fast Pair capabilities to Chromecast with
Google TV
soon. Google has also confirmed that the Fast Pair support will be coming to more Google TV-powered devices later this year.
What is Fast Pair and how it works
Fast Pair is a quick pairing feature for headphones and earphones that allows users to easily connect their audio device with the supported devices -- TVs, smartphones, etc. For this, both the device and the audio product needs to support Fast Pair technology and once the requirements are met, users see a Connect Now prompt on their device.
The same applies in case of Fast Pair support on Chromecast with Google TV and other Google TV devices. Users will see a new prompt as soon as they turn on the audio device with Connect now option. Pressing the button will quickly pair the audio device with the TV.
How it will make things easier for users
As explained, the Fast Pair enables quick and easy pairing for audio devices and even other supported devices. Once it is rolled out, users will be able to quickly connect their headphones and TWS earbuds with the TV and enjoy the audio through that. The process is aimed at making things simpler for users and adding to the convenience of connecting an audio device with their TV.
Meanwhile, Google and Samsung have joined hands to come up with a single AirDrop alternative by ditching the separate solutions -- Nearby Share and Samsung’s
Quick Share
in favour of Quick Share.
The integration of
Android Quick Share
now brings forth a unified solution that seamlessly operates across Android, Chromebook, and Windows PCs. This feature, set to become the default and built-in choice, facilitates peer-to-peer content sharing seamlessly across various devices within the Android and Chromebook ecosystems.
