NEW DELHI: In an unfortunate incident, a

Rohit Sharma

fan interrupted play by entering the field to meet the India skipper during the side's

T20 World Cup

warm-up game against Bangladesh in New York's Nassau Stadium on Saturday.
During Bangladesh's pursuit of 183, the fan got through the security cordon and ran onto the field to meet Rohit.
Soon after the intrusion, the security hurled to the field and grabbed the fan.

They then escorted him out of the park as the play resumed after the brief interruption.

It is not the first time that fans have invaded the field and caused interruption to meet their cricketing stars. Stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have often come across such fan behaviour during matches.
Earlier, Rishabh Pant reinforced his claim for a berth in India's playing 11 for the T20 World Cup as the first-choice wicketkeeper batter as he made a flowing fifty to guide his side to 182 for five against Bangladesh.
Pant, who was making his India comeback after that horrific car accident in December 2022, retired after making 53 (32b, 4x4, 4x6) on a slightly slow pitch.
There were also handy contributions by Suryakumar Yadav (31, 18b, 4x4) and Hardik Pandya (40 not out, 23b, 2x4, 4x6) as India moved to a competitive total despite not having any single big partnership in their innings.
