sentenced a family of four to life imprisonment after finding them guilty of murdering a money lender and hiding her body inside a septic tank in 2021. They owed the victim Rs 1.5 lakh.

Unable to return the money, he, along with his wife, son and daughter-in-law, abducted and killed her on December 7, 2021. District government counsel (DGC), Mahaveer Singh, said, "The crime took place at Fayyaznagar village under Rajabpur police station in Amroha. Four members of the family murdered a money lender, dug an underground septic tank and hid the body inside."
The DGC said, "When Rajesh Devi could not be found, her husband, Vedpal Singh, filed a missing person complaint on December 11, 2021. Vedpal knew about the loan and told police that he suspected the family's involvement in the case. The accused broke down and confessed during questioning by cops."
Police then recovered the body from the tank and registered a case of murder against the four accused, and arrested them.

Devi Singh's wife, Sarvesh Devi, and his daughter-in-law Manisha were later granted bail while Singh and his son Sunil were lodged in prison.
