MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Sunday will mark a year since Denzel Bimpey was stabbed to death in New York City while on his way home from college in what police believe was a case of mistaken identity. Bimpey's family is still looking for answers.
The 18-year-old SUNY Morrisville student was on his way home for winter break. He boarded a bus on Dec. 15. When the bus arrived in the Flatiron District in Manhattan, police say an argument escalated between two groups. Bimpey was allegedly trying to de-escalate the situation when he was stabbed multiple times.
"A piece of us died that day," said Godslove Nti Bimpey, Denzel's sister.
Police released an image of a suspect in the case a week after the stabbing, but the family said there have been no new leads in the case.

With the person responsible still on the streets, the family can't rest. Bimpey's mother said she wants justice for her son.
The family will be celebrating Denzel's life this weekend.
On Saturday, a celebration of life will be held at Kensico Cemetery from noon to 1:30 p.m. and then at Claremont Community Center from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On Sunday, a church service will be held at Divine Power Ministry at 1137 Prospect Ave. in the Bronx from noon to 2:30 p.m.
