FAA issues ground stop at LaGuardia and JFK airports due to thunderstorms

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A ground stop has been issued at LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to the National Airspace System Status.

The FAA has delayed all commercial aircrafts from flying out on Saturday due to thunderstorms.

"Departures to La Guardia are grounded due to thunderstorms. The Probability of extension is medium (30-60%)," read the FAA's website. "Departures to John F Kennedy International are grounded due to thunderstorms."

According to a social media post, LaGuardia recommends customers contact their airline to determine their flight status. You can check your flight status at LaGuardia Airport by clicking here.

According to the FAA, both ground stops are in effect at JFK and LaGuardia until 11 p.m.
