NEW YORK (PIX11) -- There is an affordable housing lottery open right now at a Harlem building, see if You qualify.
In the heart of East Harlem, there are three buildings, all 100 % affordable housing. It is called Sendero Verde Phase II.
Located on East 112th Street, there are 348 units of affordable housing. Christina De Marco, 58, is a proud working grandma with two jobs, born and raised in East Harlem.
De Marco says she applied to a housing lottery for an affordable apartment, and after just three months, she got it. De Marco says she will never forget when she got the keys and moved into her new one-bedroom apartment last January.
De Marco was one of the first residents to move into this new complex that was created, built, and now run by Acacia network Jonathon Rose companies and L&M development.
Chief Diversity Officer and First Deputy Commissioner at NYC’s Housing Preservation and Development gave PIX11 news an exclusive tour of the new complex. It is called Sendero Verde Phase II.
It has an outdoor terrace, fitness center, computer room, on-site laundry, and there are three community gardens.
The City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development has 33 open new affordable housing lotteries across the city.
The lottery deadline for Sendero Verde Phase II. is February 9.
