NEW DELHI: Former deputy chief minister

Manish Sisodia

approached the

Delhi High Court

on Thursday to seek

bail

in the corruption and

money laundering

cases filed by the

CBI

and the

ED

regarding the alleged

excise policy scam

.
The plea was brought before a bench consisting of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Manmeet PS Arora for an urgent hearing, and the court agreed to schedule it for Friday.

"Let the judge go through the file so let it come tomorrow," the bench said.
Advocates Rajat Bhardwaj and Mohd Irshad, who are representing Sisodia, stated that the petitioner is an MLA and requested the court to schedule both the pleas seeking bail for an urgent hearing.

Sisodia has taken his case to the high court to challenge a decision made by a trial court on April 30, which resulted in the dismissal of his bail requests in two cases.
The trial court has rejected Sisodia's requests for bail in cases of corruption and money laundering filed by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to suspected irregularities in the development and implementation of the excise policy for 2021-22.
The special judge denied the relief, stating that it was not the right stage to grant bail to Sisodia.
