NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The NYPD is conducting an internal review of allegations that a staffer for Public Advocate Jumaane Williams was drugged and assaulted by two members of his security detail.
The staffer claimed it was retaliation for her filing a human resources complaint against Williams' chief of staff, alleging a toxic work environment.
The public advocate's chief of staff has been on paid leave for five months following the complaint.
The public advocate's office released a statement, saying, "The staffer has been placed on leave and an independent investigation is underway… we will not tolerate harassment, retaliation… that undermines the workplace."
