and lack of active leadership, among other issues. He was addressing the students during the 123rd convocation ceremony of the university.
He said, "Universities should develop adaptive disciplines such as
organizational structure
and leadership. The towers of the university will not only be tall but its foundation will also be strengthened.
Auditing
of
universities
is necessary." Sahastrabuddhe was the chief guest.
Over one lakh students received their degrees on Wednesday at SPPU. Governor and chancellor of the university Ramesh Bais, vice-chancellor Suresh Gosavi, pro-vice-chancellor Parag Kalkar, registrar in-charge Vijay Khare and others were present.
Bais said that higher education has been given priority in the new education policy. So, constructive changes have to be made in primary, secondary and higher secondary education. Various departments in universities and colleges should focus more sensitively on curriculum and new educational policy, he added.
Ten students were honored with gold medals. Riddhi Kalantri was awarded The President of India Shankar Dayal Sharma gold medal.
Best PhD thesis awards went to Satish Kumar Maurya in botany, Amol Sonawane in mathematics, Vijay Kamdi in Marathi, Rahul Magar in History, Gangadhar Kitale for merit in science. Sanju Pandey, who came first in MBA got a gold medal.
