, recounting a cherished moment of receiving an autographed shirt from the iconic cricketer during last year's IPL.
During the Star Sports #IPLonStar event ahead of IPL 2024, Gavaskar reflected on his enduring fandom for Dhoni, citing the skipper's remarkable style of play, attitude, and demeanor both on and off the field.

"Ever since I saw MSD playing for the first time, I have been his fan," Gavaskar enthused, highlighting Dhoni's immense impact on the cricketing world.
Recalling the memorable encounter with Dhoni, Gavaskar shared his excitement at meeting his 'hero' and obtaining his autograph.

"The whole team was taking a round around the stadium (Chepauk), so I thought this was a good time to take his autograph because I admire him a lot," Gavaskar reminisced.
Emphasizing the significance of role models in sports, Gavaskar commended Dhoni for his exemplary conduct, both on and off the field.
"He is a very good role model. The way he conducts himself with grace, it made me go to him and request him, and I am very happy that he agreed to sign on my shirt," Gavaskar expressed, revealing his pride in owning the autographed shirt, which he proudly keeps in his house.
