NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has praised India's prime pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, for his unique bowling style and effectiveness. Bumrah's distinct action and consistent performance have earned him recognition in the
cricket
world.
Basit Ali highlighted Bumrah's ability to deceive batters with his "awkward" action, describing it as a key factor in his success.
"Even if you play Bumrah on a cement pitch, his action is so awkward he can deceive the batters. That is the truth. That is what I call him Boom Boom. Not the rest of the bowlers. The rest of them depend on their form and rhythm. He comes in takes a wicket and then picks three in his next spell. He is very deceptive, his slower one is accurate. Usually, the deliveries you bowl in white-ball cricket, he picks wickets on such deliveries in the Test format. It is special," Basit said on his YouTube channel.
Bumrah is returning to the Indian team after his match-winning performance in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa.
He has been included in India's squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, which starts on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Since his Test debut in 2018, Bumrah has taken 159 wickets in 36 appearances. Following the match in Chennai, the second Test between India and Bangladesh will take place in Kanpur from September 27.
