The English voice cast for the
Uzumaki
anime, which is due to release sometime later this year, was announced at
Anime
Expo 2024 by
Production I.G
.
According to Anime News Network, the main cast of the Uzumaki English dub are as follows: Abby Trott as Kirie Goshima, and Robbie Daymond as Shuichi Saito. Cristina Vee plays Azami Kurotani, while Doug Stone plays Kirie's father and Aaron LaPlante plays Shuichi's father.
Mona Marshall and Max Mittelman have been cast as Shuichi's mother and Katayama respectively.
The Uzumaki anime has seen many delays during production. It was first scheduled to debut on Toonami in 2020, but due to concerns and issues regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, it was later rescheduled to 2021. Afterwards, it was delayed again to October 2022. The series was announced to be delayed indefinitely by the author and staff in June 2022. "As much as we'd like to deliver this show to the public as soon as possible, we don't want to compromise its quality by delivering a mediocre final product," the official X account said. Fans were left wondering if the anime would ever be released or if it was destined to stay unreleased forever during the subsequent lack of news. Luckily, the author of the original manga, Junji Ito, confirmed earlier this week that the anime would premiere on
Adult Swim
later this year, and that it was up to his standards.
The renowned Japanese
horror manga series
Uzumaki was created and illustrated by Junji Ito. Hard copy volumes were published soon after, with publication beginning in 1998 and ending in 1999. In 2002, an English version was made available. The story follows Kirie and her boyfriend Shuichi as they try to figure out the mystery behind a curse of spirals that plagues their town.
